Voting for this year’s ESC 250 — the annual countdown of fans’ favourite Eurovision songs — is on. Despite there being literally hundreds of songs to choose from, Sweden’s Loreen topped the rankings every year from 2012 with “Euphoria”. But then Spain’s Queen of Dance Chanel toppled Sweden’s star with her bop “SloMo” last year.
Of course, Loreen has now well and truly regained the Eurofan spotlight. In May she became the first and only woman to win Eurovision for a second time with her 2023 entry “Tattoo”.
Could that song — the favourite of the ESC juries but not the public — put her back on top? Or will she ride once more with “Euphoria”?
Well the 2023 edition of ESC 250 — organised once again by Songfestival.be — is here to answer exactly that.
Who will win ESC 250 2023?
Fans are already speculating about which Eurovision 2023 stars could be the one to unseat Chanel.
Looking at the charts following Eurovision, several acts at the top enjoyed both radio play and streams: Loreen, or course, but also televote winner Käärijä, Norway’s Alessandra and Israel’s Noa Kirel.
But let’s not forget Måneskin, who recently won the MTV EMAs for Best Rock Act and Best Italian Act.
Chanel, meanwhile, has been relatively quiet. Will Spanish fans turn out en masse for their star, who still has the most-viewed performance of Eurovision 2022 on the official Eurovision YouTube channel?
We have to consider who will be voting in the poll. Typically, the voters are year-round Eurovision fans. How many of these people will switch their allegiances from past years in favour of a 2023 song? One important factor is that everyone has to vote for their top ten songs. So those who are voting purely to support their favourite may end up giving Loreen and Chanel some points regardless.
How to vote in ESC 250 2023
To vote, you need to register with either a Facebook, Google or Twitter account. After logging in, you will be presented with every Eurovision song since 1956, including the entries from the cancelled 2020 contest. Using drag and drop functionality, you pick a top ten using Eurovision’s iconic 12 point system. You can only vote once per account. Vote here.
The results of the poll will be revealed throughout New Year’s Eve, 31 December, on the online EFR12 Radio, beginning at 11:00 CET.
You can review last year’s results below.
